December 6, 2009

I am currently finishing up an outline for a screenplay I plan on producing and directing. The script will be done by the beginning or middle of January, and I plan on holding auditions just as soon as it is done. If you are interested in auditioning or just helping out, email me: christopher.bajer@my.maryvillecollege.edu

There are 7 major characters still open. No experience required. For more information on the movie and the characters email me.

Still Workin’ On My Time-Machine

November 16, 2009

This past weekend was the last game of the season. Unluckily, we lost 14-21. At first, it felt like the season was sluggishly moving along, but now that it’s over it feels like it flew by. I am definitely going to miss all the seniors. I figured instead of writing about my weekend, I would give a shout out to the seniors.

Sam McCord, Kyle Chewning, Michael Bosco, Hunter West, Rommel Hightower, Nick Moore, Corey Click, Jonathan Caughron, Jake Burns, Brian Wendel, Joel Byars. Adam Bean, James McCarty.

All you guys stuck it out, and are truly Fightin’ Scots. Good luck in the future!

The Outcome

November 7, 2009

I guess I’ll get the boring stuff out of the way and start with a class update. Last week, I had a test in Hebrew Bible. I studied for close to two hours, so I was prepared. I’m almost sure I made an A. My last test of the semester before finals is in Spanish next Wednesday. I’ll probably start going over stuff tomorrow. I finished my rough drafts for the research paper in Comp. 110. I did mine on the Writers Strike of 2007-2008. The semester is almost over. I think another month is pretty much all we have left. You can tell in some classes, too. I think this is the time where everyone starts to “buckle down”.

Football is almost over as well. Next week is our last week. It has been a lot of fun, and I can’t wait until next season comes around.

I went to Pigeon Forge yesterday. I played Mini-Golf at Professor Hacker’s Lost Treasure with a few friends I met there. It was pretty fun. Then, we went to the Tanger Outlet Center, which is like an outdoor mall. They had all kinds of stores: PacSun, Old Navy, Journeys, J. Crew, Banana Republic, A music store, and many more stores I didn’t make it to. It was very fun. There’s a lot to do in Pigeon Forge. I didn’t get to do a lot, but they had laser tag, go-karts, and a lot more. I really wanted to play laser tag. I guess I will next time.

Another One Bites the Dust

October 26, 2009

What’s up everyone? It’s been a little hectic so I have not been able to post as many of these as I would like. It’s all going very well, though. Classes seem to be settling down a little as the semester goes on. We are practically half way through the first semester, and so far it has been going great. I have made a lot of new friends, experienced some new and different things, and I have also had a lot of fun.

This weekend me and a few other guys went to the mall in Knoxville. It was pretty sweet. We didn’t have a mall at all where I am from, so it was cool. I bought a new pair of Macbeth Shoes. I can’t wait to go back. A friend and I also went to the movie theater at Turkey Creek. I saw Couples Retreat, and it was funny. Obviously there is plenty to do around Maryville, so if you are thinking about coming here, don’t worry about that aspect.

I have been doing good in all my classes. I made an 85 on my last composition paper. I had a Spanish quiz that I am pretty sure I made an A on. We are starting to do our research papers in Comp now. It is pretty cool because Dr. Trevathon wants us to do it on something that involves our major or intended career. I am doing mine on the Writers Guild Strike of 2007-2008. I have my second Hebrew Bible Exam this week, so I’ll probably be studying that for a while.

I am also still outlining scenes for a script I am writing. It is a slow process, but it’ll be worth it.

Hide and Seek

October 12, 2009

Two hours and few seconds. That is how long it takes me to get home. You may think that is not a very long time, but when you are stuck alone somewhere with nothing but your thoughts, two hours and a few seconds seems like an eternity. You sit alone. People do not realize how sacred these moments are. When you are totally alone with no one but yourself to analyze that is when you are yourself. No one is there to influence you. No one is there to tell you who you are.  You are there, and you alone. Many people ask themselves questions or rehash a past event when they are alone. Not me, though. I am just living for the moment…and letting the moment live in me….

News at Maryville College: HOMECOMING WEEK!!!! Come out and support the Fightin’ Scots. We are coming off a big road win against Shenandoah.

Below is the link to the schedule of events and other things going on throughout the entire week. Come feel the homecoming atmosphere. There’s nothing like it.

Feeling the Moment

October 8, 2009

Hey everyone!  Hope everything is going well.

This week has been sluggishly moving along for me. I had a Spanish test this week. I think I did alright on it. I also started on my third essay for my composition class. I also have been outlining a screenplay (script) that I have been thinking about for a while. I tried to get people to help make the movie for the last one I wrote, but no one was interested in that where I am from. It’s weird because I have not even wrote this one, and I already have a couple of people interested in doing it or helping with it. I’m very excited to get that on the roll.

Now to the bad news. We were told today after football practice that one of last year’s team captains, Russ Harris, passed away. I did not know him, but just by looking at the faces of the guys who did I could tell he had a tremendous impact on them. I hope that everyone will keep him and his family in their minds and hearts. Rest in peace.

Down to One Yard

October 4, 2009

If you were lucky enough to be at the Maryville College football game yesterday, you may have witnessed one of the greatest games of Maryville College history. It was exciting, but stressful at the same time. The other team had to get one yard to win the game, but our Fightin’ Scots would not have that. We fought hard and won the game 36-30 to advance to 2-2. We are 1-0 in the conference. Go Scots! If you want to read the full article on the game, you can visit:  http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/athletics/news.asp?sportNameID=3

After the game, I visited home for the first time since I have been at Maryville College. It was pretty fun. I caught up with friends and had dinner with my family. It was fun, but I was glad when I got back to Maryville.

Right now I am studying for my first Spanish test. I do not think it will be that bad, but you never know. I’d rather stay on the safe side and study a little bit.

I get the stitches out of my pinkie either tomorrow or Tuesday, so that should be fun. Well, I better get off here and go study.

Intro to College Life

September 29, 2009

Hello everyone! My name is Jacob Bajer. I am currently a freshman at Maryville College. I thought before I started going into what it’s like for me as a freshmen here that I would tell you a few random facts about me. I grew up in a small North Georgia town called Chatsworth. I play wide receiver for the football team here at Maryville College. I enjoy film and music, as well as a select choice of books. I am half-French. I plan on becoming a writing/communications major. I want to have a career in the film industry. I write screenplays (scripts) in my spare time. I also enjoy comedy. Now It’s time to tell you about the wonders of my college life.

I am taking thirteen hours this semester. I have Composition 110 with Dr. Trevathan. I have Spanish I with Mr. Watts. I have Hebrew Bible World and Culture with Dr. Sherman, and I also have the freshmen seminar class with Ms. Treadway.

So far, I have not had any problems in the classroom. I have been able to stay on top of my work by simply doing the assignments. The teachers here really seem to take an interest in the success of every student. Students here are not “just a number”.

Football has been going fairly well. The pre-season camp was a bit rough, but it’s alright now. I actually did something quite interesting yesterday at practice. I was going to catch a ball during a drill, and the ball hit the end of my pinkie finger. I thought it was just jammed, but I looked down and realized it was worse. The bone was sticking out of the skin. Gross huh? It turns out that it was just dislocated and popped through the skin, so no broken bones. The trainers were really cool about it, and knew exactly what they were doing. One of the trainers took me to the E.R. and waited with me while they put it back in place. It was actually a pretty cool experience. This is just one example of how Maryville College staff is there with you through it all.  Thanks for reading. I’ll be doing this 2-3 times a week so stay tuned!
